Alabama football without Nick Saban still feels weird. But Kalen DeBoer is settling in, and his second season is a chance to prove that Alabama is still Alabama โ€” even without the greatest coach in college football history. Here's the 2025 schedule and what to expect.

The schedule breakdown

Aug 30 โ€” vs. Florida Atlantic (Home): Easy opener. Alabama should win by 35+.

Sep 6 โ€” vs. South Florida (Home): Another tune-up. The Tide will be 2-0 heading into the real games.

Sep 13 โ€” at Wisconsin (Away): Camp Randall is a tough environment, and Wisconsin is always physical. This is a good early test for Alabama's offensive line.

Sep 20 โ€” vs. Georgia (Home): The biggest game of the regular season. Georgia is the standard in the SEC, and this game will tell us everything about where Alabama stands. Bryant-Denny Stadium will be rocking.

Sep 27 โ€” at Vanderbilt (Away): Vanderbilt is improving, but Alabama should win. Don't overlook this one โ€” Vandy pulled off a shocking upset in 2024.

Oct 4 โ€” vs. South Carolina (Home): South Carolina is solid, but Alabama should handle them at home.

Oct 11 โ€” BYE WEEK

Oct 18 โ€” at Tennessee (Away): Neyland Stadium is one of the loudest venues in college football. Tennessee is a top-15 team, and this is a must-win for both teams.

Oct 25 โ€” vs. Missouri (Home): Missouri is a dark horse in the SEC. They're well-coached and have talent. This is a potential trap game.

Nov 1 โ€” at LSU (Away): Death Valley at night. The most hostile environment in college football. LSU is always dangerous at home, and this game is always a war.

Nov 8 โ€” vs. Mississippi State (Home): Mississippi State is rebuilding. Alabama should win comfortably.

Nov 15 โ€” at Oklahoma (Away): Oklahoma is adjusting to the SEC, but they're still talented. This is a tough road game.

Nov 22 โ€” vs. Auburn (Home โ€” Iron Bowl): The Iron Bowl. The biggest rivalry in the SEC. Everything is on the line.

The gauntlet: Georgia, Tennessee, LSU

Alabama's season will be defined by three games: Georgia (Sep 20), Tennessee (Oct 18), and LSU (Nov 1). Win two of those three, and Alabama is in the playoff. Win all three, and they're a 1-seed.

The Georgia game is the most important. It's at home, it's early in the season, and it sets the tone. If Alabama beats Georgia, the confidence will carry them through the rest of the schedule. If they lose, the pressure mounts.

DeBoer's challenge

Kalen DeBoer's first season was a mixed bag. Alabama went 9-3, which is a good season for most programs but a disappointment for Alabama. The offense was good but not great, and the defense had lapses that Saban's teams never had.

Year two is when we'll see the real DeBoer. He's had a full offseason to recruit his guys, install his system, and build the culture he wants. The expectations are clear: win the SEC and make the playoff. Anything less, and the pressure will be intense.

Alabama has the talent. They always have the talent. The question is whether DeBoer can get the most out of it. This schedule will give us the answer.
